The Fort Velasco Discovery Center is a collaborative effort of an appointed committee of the Village of Surfside Beach and a separate non-profit organization.

The Old Velasco/Surfside Beach Historical Committee (OV/SBHC) meets monthly at City Hall in Surfside Beach, Texas. The current members are:

• Chairman:  Robert Bradley

• Vice-Chairman:  Dortha Pekar

• Secretary:  Merry Porter 

• Treasurer: Marsha Hines

• Liaison:  Jon Gerber

• Members:  Jennie Green-Prats, Tom Hines, Cary Lucas, David McGinty

 

The tax exempt nonprofit is called the Old Fort Velasco Historical Association (OFVHA). The current members are:

• Chairman: David McGinty

• Vice Chairman: Tom Hines

• Secretary/Treasurer: Karalee Lance 

• Members: Chester Barnes, Lou Golish, Jennie Green-Prats, Chris Kneupper, Dortha Pekar, and Sandra Wood-Wicke
