Every year, Surfside Beach conducts the re-enactment of the signing of the Treaties of Velasco, that occurred on May 14, 1836.

In 2024, the event will occur on Saturday, May 18, at 1415 Monument Drive, Surfside Beach, Texas. All are invited to watch a reenactment of the signing of the Treaties of Velasco by General Santa Anna and the new government of the Republic of Texas, taste food of the period, participate in interactive demonstrations, talk to historians, wander through the new Chris Kneupper History Trail, and view the Fort Velasco displays at the Village Hall.
